What the Toddle Enhancement Extension does

The features in one page, and which are free and which need a licence.

Written by Bryan Fawcett

The Toddle Enhancement Extension is a Chrome extension, made by Nyuchi, that adds to Toddle the views Toddle does not have. It works inside Toddle's own pages, in your browser. It reads only what your own Toddle account can already see, and it never changes anything in Toddle.

Free, for everyone

  • Concealing student flags. One switch conceals student flags, so you can put Toddle on a projector or share your screen without a flag being what the room reads. See Concealing student flags for a shared screen.

  • My classes. A third option in the home page's course filter, beside All courses and My courses: just the classes you teach.

Concealing flags is free on purpose. It is the part that protects a student, and we are not going to put a price on that.

With a licence

  • Gradebook columns. Expand an assessment tool into one column per standard, criterion or checklist item, with the whole class visible at once, instead of opening a panel for every student. One tool at a time, or all of an assessment's tools together. See Reading the expanded gradebook columns.

  • CSV export. One row per student, assessment and criterion, with the result and the submission status, saved to your downloads. See Exporting your gradebook to CSV.

  • The student sidebar. Click a student anywhere on Toddle for their grade, email, contacts and classes in one panel docked to the side of the page. Click a class for its teachers, its room and the block it is in now, with a message button for each teacher. See Using the student sidebar.

  • Primary teacher names. The primary teacher beside every class, on the home page and on student profiles.

  • Attendance dashboard details. On the dashboard's Students tab, under each student's name: their year group, and the class they should be in right now with its primary teacher. The block happening now is outlined.

Plans

  • Individual: US$5 a year, for one teacher.

  • Organisation: US$149.99 a year, one key for your whole school's email domain.

How to buy and enter a key is in Licences, pricing, and activating your key.

The welcome page

When the extension is first installed it opens one welcome tab. It explains the features, lets you choose your defaults for each switch, and has a box for a licence key. It does not open again on updates. Everything on it is also in the extension's toolbar menu.

What it does not do

  • It never writes to Toddle. Grades, attendance and messages are changed only by you, in Toddle.

  • It has no account, no analytics and no tracking. Nothing it reads from Toddle leaves your browser. See What the extension can and cannot see.

  • It runs only on Toddle's website, web.toddleapp.com, in Chrome on a computer. It does not work in the Toddle mobile apps.

Get started

  • One teacher: Installing the Toddle Enhancement Extension.

  • A whole school: Deploying the extension to your whole school with Google Admin.
