For publishers: claiming and verifying your publication

How a newsroom claims its listing on Mukoko News, what verification changes, and how to be added or removed.

Written by Bryan Fawcett

If you run or work for a newsroom that appears on Mukoko News, you can claim its listing. Claiming links the publication to your organisation so you can manage how it appears, and starts the verification review.

Claiming your publication

Sign in, then go to Claim your publication and tell us which source you represent. Every claim is reviewed by a person — this is not automatic, so allow a few days.

What verification gives you

  • Your organisation is marked verified on Mukoko News.

  • Your sources receive a trust boost, which lifts your stories when several outlets cover the same event. Confirming ownership of your own domain adds a second, separate boost on top.

  • A publisher dashboard showing how your stories are performing in the index, with the trust score broken down so you can see what it is made of.

  • The ability to correct your organisation's profile and to submit feeds directly, rather than waiting for us to discover them.

If your publication isn't listed yet

Send us the address of your site and of your RSS or Atom feed. Most sites publish one at /feed or /rss; if yours does not, tell us and we will look at other ways to follow you.

Corrections and removal

Mukoko News shows a headline, a short excerpt and a link to your page — we do not republish your articles. If your publication is mislabelled (wrong country, wrong name, feed pointing at the wrong section) tell us and we will correct it. If you would rather not be indexed at all, write to us from an address at your own domain and we will remove you.
