Every story in Mukoko News comes from a publication we have indexed. You can browse the full list on the Sources page.
How a publication gets indexed
Most publications are picked up automatically from the feed their own website publishes. We also use a news catalogue to discover outlets in countries we do not yet cover well, and check whether they publish a feed we can follow. Publishers can also ask to be added — see claiming your publication.
Why a story shows a particular country
The country on a story is the country of the publication, not necessarily of the events described. A Zimbabwean newsroom reporting on Britain is still filed under Zimbabwe. We record where each country label came from — whether the publisher told us, whether we inferred it from their domain, or whether it is a legacy value we have not been able to confirm — and we are working through the ones we cannot confirm.
Trust scores
Each source carries a trust score used to order stories when several outlets cover the same event. It rises with a consistent publishing record, with verification of the publisher's identity, and with confirmed ownership of their own domain. It is a ranking signal, not a rating of any individual article, and it never hides a source from you.
Reporting a problem
If a story is attributed to the wrong publication, filed under the wrong country, carries the wrong byline, or should not be in the index at all, tell us — include the link to the story on Mukoko News. Corrections to the article itself are the publisher's to make; we link to their page rather than hosting a copy.
